Essential tools for new and experienced memoir writers that take your personal story and make it something shareable and universal.
Readers pick up memoirs to go on a journey alongside the writer. In this four-week writing intensive course, we'll use memory as both compass and map for this journey. Designed for all levels, from those who want to begin to those already crafting a memoir, this workshop will help you invite readers along, mine your life for key passages, and learn to see yourself as a character in the story you have to tell. In addition to lots of writing practice, we'll discuss key passages from critically acclaimed memoirs.

Writing Wild: Wilding Your World
With summer in full bloom, we’ll take our cue from the abundance of wildflowers and baby birds, seasonal thundershowers and flourishing gardens to learn how to inhabit our wild selves both on the page, with each other, and in the stories we both create and tell. Become an animal in landscape or a cloud blown on the wind, spend time inspecting the woodpecker-tattered bark of an aspen or examining the tendrils offered by moss to learn to engage your senses and fill your inspirational cup. Join me for exploration and generative exercises.
Writing Wild: Ritual
As we prepare to enter enter fall, this daylong workshop focuses on not only helping your understand your own writing rituals (best times + places for inspiration, how to keep coming back to writing over and over) in order to help you feed your creative self, but also on inspiring some new ones. Plus, we’ll take a deep dive in the mystery with an intuitive inspiration hike and using tarot cards to help us access images, stories, poems swimming in our subconscious bodies.
Workshops are onsite at my house and in the Roosevelt National Forest. Bring a hat, sunscreen, sitting pad, notebook, water and lunch.
